Have you ever opened a utility website or the portal of your phone company or any other service and in the chat of the customer support section, a bot answers your question with a happy: “Hi! I’m your AI-powered virtual assistant! How can I help you today?”? What was your reaction to this type of customer service?
Lately, I have been encountering this type of consumer support a bit everywhere, from phone companies to online-based services. Needless to say, I don’t really trust a bot to help me, so I simply close the website and look for an alternative.
Why? Because if I think my question can be answered by a pre-formatted sentence, I check out the FAQ section. If I don’t, I prefer a human interaction rather than a bot.

Going on vacation is not just some kind of superficial treat; it’s an important moment. A holiday is a necessary break from work and from our daily chores. A holiday helps you regenerate and allows you to go back to your daily life stronger, with more energy, renewed.
But if your holiday is a sequence of missed occasions, lousy restaurants, closed attractions, and wrong accommodation choices? You go back home tired than when you left and with the feeling of having wasted time and money.

A few reasons why an AI bot assistant can never replace a human travel designer:
- It doesn’t have a point of view
- It doesn’t taste
- It doesn’t have first-hand experience
- It doesn’t work based on real-life context
- It doesn’t have reality-backed knowledge
- It didn’t visit the places you want to travel to
Granted, not all the travel advisors have visited ALL the places they advise on. But in this particular instance and moment of history, this is not me.

I have seen Rome itineraries made by AI software and it didn’t take distances, locations, schedules, and length of visits into consideration. So how would this trip end up? Rushing from one place to another, going back and forth, wasting time in the transfers.
Knowing Rome’s distances and traffic, to me, this sounds like a nightmare. And, needless to say, I would never suggest such a trip to a traveler who puts his/her trust in my services.
